Anniversary, January, 2007

We went to Las Vegas, NV, for our Anniversary, January 17. Actually, we were there January 16 to 19 (Tuesday to Friday). This was a lucky shot, at the revolving door at the Mirage lobby:

Tuesday, January 16

We flew San Jose to Las Vegas, and checked into the Treasure Island hotel/casino.

“Love”, the new Circ du Soleil production, is playing next door at the Mirage. It’s circus, with Beatles’ music.

We saw it that night: excellent. They acted out the characters (Sgt. Pepper, and all), and put the music in time sequence, from WWII Liverpool to the last music by the Beatles as a group.

We stopped at a bar off the casino that happened to have a Dale Chihuly sculpture:

Tuesday: Mischel; Chihuly sculpture

And another one outside:

Wednesday, January 17

We went to the Wynn for a while; there was ice in the fountain:

We had dinner at Emeril’s at the MGM Grand about 10pm (no photo). I wanted a steak, but it’s a New Orleans seafood restaurant, so I got the surf & turf, a mistake.

Thursday, January 18

Our room was on the street side and high enough that we had a good view of the Pirates show that’s put on several times each night:

Thursday: Pirates show

The white check marks are just bright lights that show how steady I could keep the camera.

We went back to the Love theater for some photos:

Next to the lobby was the Revolution bar, sometimes with go-go girls. This one’s in the “U” of the floor-to-ceiling “Revolution”:

I didn’t get a photo, but here and there they played on the fact that the word “revolution” contains the word “love”, backwards.

We had dinner at Boa’s at the Caesar’s Palace Forum Shops about 10pm:

Thursday: Wine, T-bone & Lobster

And then went to the Bellagio to see the Chinese New Year’s decorations:

For Chinese New Year’s, they get out the mirrored horse (lower left). The Chihuly sculpture on the ceiling is always there.

Friday, January 19

We cabbed to the Las Vegas airport and flew to San Jose.
